È il ’73 quando Calvino pubblica Il castello dei destini incrociati insieme a La taverna dei destini incrociati per Einaudi.

is so che Calvino ci presenta interpretazioni molteplici che derivano dalla successione, talvolta incomprensibile, dei tarocchi (pregiati e miniati nel caso del castello, marsigliesi, quindi più comuni e popolari, nel caso della taverna), ma spesso nuove formulazioni e ipotesi smentiscono le precedenti lasciando il lettore stupefatto e confuso . Procedendo per accostamenti, l’autore quasi ci accompagna a scoprire i meccanismi combinatori sottesi alle storie, come volesse farci partecipare a quel gioco di costruzione in cui si è imbattuto. E ci mostra come esse s’intessono e si incrociano, persino confondendosi, tanto che a volte pare di essere al centro d’un vortice fatto di parole e avventure.
Ma non è tutto , cari lettori, poiché una stessa carta può rappresentare personaggi diversi a seconda dell’esperienza che ciascuno vuole raccontare; non mancano, poi, personalità care all’autore come l’Orlando.
